Your new stripe is sewn on 3cm from the ends of your belt. If it is not your first stripe, leave a gap of 1cm between each one and work away from the end. Please see below for details.
For those on red belt doing step gradings, your black stripe replaces the top green or white stripe, ie take off the top stripe and put the new black stripe in its place. The next black stripe then replaces the middle stripe.
